Bridge Wins Gold, Whitmore Finishes Fifth at 2024 Paralympics

CSUN Alums Katie Holloway Bridge and Jamie Whitmore completed their stay at the 2024 Paralymics in Paris on Saturday. Holloway Bridge, a CSUN women's basketball alum, won gold as a member of the women's sitting volleyball team for the third-straight Paralympics. Whitmore, a CSUN women's track & field alum, claimed fifth place in the women's C1-3 road race.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif.---CSUN alums Katie Holloway Bridge and Jamie Whitmore completed their stay at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris on Saturday. Bridge, a CSUN women's basketball alum, won gold as a member of the women's sitting volleyball team for the third-straight Paralympics. Whitmore, a CSUN women's track & field alum, claimed fifth place in the women's C1-3 road race.

Bridge helped USA to a 3-1 victory (25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 25-22) over the People's Republic of China in the gold medal game on Saturday. The former Matador standout clinched the final two points of the match. Bridge finished with the second-most points on the team with 15.

The gold medal is Bridge's third consecutive as a member of the USA women's sitting volleyball team. She previously was named MVP of the women's tournament at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo while she also won gold in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Overall, Bridge is a five-time Paralympian with silver medals victories with the sitting volleyball team in 2008 and 2012.
Jamie Whitmore at 2024 Paralympics
Whitmore posted a fifth-place finish in the women's C1-3 road race (56.8 km) with a time of 1:39:10. Her time was 22 seconds off the pace of medaling at the event as Clara Brown was the highest finishing U.S. athlete in third place. Earlier in the week, Whitmore took 11th place in the women's C1-3 individual time trials (14.1 km) with a time of 23:57.57.

In 2024, Whitmore made her third appearance in the Paralympics. She improved upon her performance in the road race after she took seventh in the 2020 Paralympics. Whitmore previously won gold in the C1-C3 road race at the 2016 Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
