CSUN Celebrates Matador Madness to Tip-Off 2024-25 Basketball Seasons
NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Over 1,500 fans packed into Premier America Credit Union Arena on Thursday (Sept. 26) as CSUN celebrated Matador Madness for the first time in seven years.
The evening began with a pizza party in the Winningham Spirit Plaza on the west side of the Arena. Attendees were treated to Pizzasaurus Rex pizza, music, and games on the patio.
After making their way inside the Arena, Matador fans were introduced to the 2024-25 Men's and Women's Basketball teams for the first time. Fans would cheer on members from each team through a skills challenge and 3-point challenge. Erica Adams from the women's team and Noah Williams from the men's team were winners of the skills challenge while the duo of women's basketball's Jenna Kilty and men's basketball's Scotty Washington took first place in the 3-point challenge.
In the final competition of the night, CSUN fans were brought to their feet for a slam dunk contest featuring Marcus Adams, Jr., Festus Ndumanya and Grady Lewis. After a series of thrilling dunks, Adams outlasted Ndumanya in the finals when he performed a breathtaking jam by leaping over two teammates while donning a Superman cape.
Fans in attendance also received prizes including one lucky Matador fan who received a $500 Visa gift card and a free oil change for a year courtesy of Northridge Toyota. Two fans in attendance also took part in a half-court shot for $10,000.
The night's festivities were hosted by Get in the Groove Entertainment while CSUN Basketball broadcasters Jill Painter Lopez, Ghizal Hasan and Alan Zinsmeister introduced both Matador teams. The CSUN Dance and Cheerleading Teams along with the Matador Band were in attendance and performed.
