Media Advisory: CSUN to Celebrate Grand Opening of the University’s Autodesk Technology Engagement Center

What:
Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) and former Congressman Tony Cárdenas (CA-29) will join California State University, Northridge President Erika D. Beck and Andrew Anagnost, CEO of Autodesk, Inc., one of the world’s leading in Design and Make technology companies, for the grand opening of the Autodesk Technology Engagement Center.
Available to all students, the Center will house academic programs in the College of Engineering & Computer Science; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) innovation programs for K-12 students; and CSUN’s Global Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Innovation Hub, the first national center of its kind, dedicated to creating more equitable pathways into education and technology for students across the CSU system and beyond.
The Center’s construction was supported in part by over $7 million in philanthropic support from Autodesk. Rivas and Cárdenas, along with U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla, played key roles acquiring $25 million in state funds to support the realization of the building.

The demonstrations include robotics and smart prosthetics, drones, Forumula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) Design and and a Formula 1 Car, a concrete canoe, a steel bridge and a human-powered vehicle.
