Sonia Hahn Selected to University of Kentucky's 2025 Hall of Fame Class

LEXINGTON, Ky. – CSUN Deputy Director of Athletics Sonia Hahn has been chosen for induction into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – CSUN's Deputy Director of Athletics Sonia Hahn has been chosen for induction into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

Hahn, a four-year letterwinner for the Wildcats' women's tennis team, joins Abbey Cheek-Ramsey (softball), Makayla Epps (women's basketball), Doug Flynn (baseball/men's basketball/broadcaster), Josh Hines-Allen (football), and Karl-Anthony Towns (men's basketball) in the UK 2025 Hall of Fame class.Hahn_UKHOF2_25

Among her many career accolades, Hahn was named a two-time singles All-American and a two-time doubles All-American for the Wildcats. She won the ITA National Indoor Singles championship and the SEC No. 1 singles title in 1987. Hahn was an All-SEC selection all four years while advancing to the NCAA Singles Championship from 1986-1989.

In her career, she compiled a career singles/doubles record of 148-45, usually playing at the No. 1 position. With Hahn on the team, the Wildcats posted a four-year record of 79-29, including a pair of runner-up finishes at the SEC Championships and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Outside of her collegiate career, she won the doubles gold medal at the 1987 Pan American Games and earned a bronze medal at the 1987 World University Games. She went on to serve as Co-Head Coach at Tennessee for 19 seasons, and was named National Co-Coach of the Year in 2002.

Hahn came to CSUN from Southern Utah University, where she served in a senior leadership role and as its Senior Woman Administrator (SWA). She joined Matador Athletics in January 2023 and was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics in April 2024. Hahn oversees several sport programs, including men's and women's volleyball, beach volleyball, cross country and track and field, men's golf, and women's golf. Hahn also oversees the CSUN Athletic Performance unit as well as Sports Medicine and the Matador Fueling Station. 

Additionally, she also chairs the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Athletics Committee, serves as Athletic Liaison for LGBTQIA, and oversees the Athletics Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and other student-athlete programming.

The new UK Hall of Famers will be inducted during Hall of Fame Weekend on September 12-13.
