NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - In the third in a series of MVP (Most Valuable Professor) days honoring the CSUN Faculty this Fall, the Matador women's soccer team paid tribute to 19 professors during halftime of the CSUN-UC Irvine game on Sunday (Oct. 22) at Matador Soccer Field.
At halftime of the Big West contest that saw the two teams play to a 0-0 draw, each participating student-athlete honored one professor who significantly impacted their academic journey, underscoring the deep connections beyond the classroom. Each of the 19 CSUN professors were joined by the nominating student-athlete at midfield during the ceremony.
- Carlos Armando Hernandez, a professor in the Department of Chicana/o Studies, was invited by student-athlete Yoshi Rubalcava.
- Martha Carreon, a professor in the Department of Psychology, was invited by student-athlete Daisy Torres.
- Sharon D. Johnson, a professor in the Department of Africana Studies, was invited by student-athlete Sunny Bowlin-Stacy.
- Caitlen Diab, a professor in the Department of Communication Studies, was invited by student-athlete Priyanka Pottekkat.
- Terry Fuller, a professor in the Department of Mathematics, was invited by student-athlete Kacie Garrity.
- Eric Gamino, a professor in the Department of Criminology and Justice Systems, was invited by student-athlete Brooke Mobeck.
- Dr. Ced Hackett, a professor in the Department of Africana Studies, was invited by student-athlete Erin Anderson.
- Jacob Jenson, a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, was invited by student-athlete Izabel Reyes.
- Sharon Lim, a professor in Academic First-Year Experiences, was invited by student-athlete Braedyn Kincade.
- Douha Louimina, a professor in the Department of Psychology, was invited by student-athlete Cami Alarcon.
- Jennifer Lu, a professor in the Department of Accounting, was invited by student-athlete Ashly Torres.
- Megan Mangassarian, a professor in the Department of Criminology and Justice Studies, was invited by student-athlete Anessa Campos.
- Derek Mena, a professor in the Department of Kinesiology, was invited by student-athlete Sami Alarcon.
- Christopher Ng, a professor in the Department of Business Law, was invited by student-athlete Paige Califf.
- Robyn Parks, a professor in the Department of Health Science, was invited by student-athlete Sami Kolin.

- Curtis Taylor, a professor in the Department of Art and Design, was invited by student-athlete Pauline Gericke.
- Lauren Walter, a professor in the Department of Health Sciences, was invited by student-athlete Ashley Cruz.
- Patrice Washburne, a professor in the Department of Communication Studies, was invited by student-athlete Samantha Healy.
The next Most Valuable Professor Day will be held Thursday, Feb. 15 when CSUN women's basketball takes on Cal State Bakersfield at 6 p.m. inside Premier America Credit Union Arena.
