NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - In the second MVP (Most Valuable Professor) Day of the 2024-25 academic year, the women's volleyball team paid tribute to six CSUN professors as part of the Matadors' Big West match against UC Davis on Saturday (Oct. 19) at Premier America Credit Union Arena
"CSUN celebrates the dedication of our student-athletes, both on the court and in their academic pursuits," said Shawn Chin-Farrell, CSUN's Director of Athletics. "Equally, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from our faculty and Academic Affairs."
Between sets two and three of the Matadors' match against the Aggies, each participating student-athlete honored one professor who significantly impacted their academic journey, underscoring the deep connections beyond the classroom. Each of the six CSUN professors was joined by the nominating student-athlete on the court during the ceremony.
- Manisha Chase, a professor in the Department of Child & Adolescent Development, was invited by student-athlete Taylor Dunlap.
- Timothy Conley, a professor in the Department of Africana Studies, was invited by student-athlete Katie Kolar.
- Anna Dawahare, a professor in the Department of English, was invited by student-athlete Kyleigh Moore.
- Paul Fidler, a professor in the Department of Systems and Operations Management, was invited by student-athlete Layla Cederlind
- Roxana Naraghi, a professor in the Department of Systems and Operations Management, was invited by student-athlete Iye Okolo.
- Nick Rousseau, a professor in the Department of Geological Sciences, was invited by student-athlete Amaris Smith.
CSUN Athletics' next MVP Day is scheduled for Feb. 22 when women's basketball will pay tribute to the faculty at halftime of the Matadors' game against UC Davis at 2 p.m.
