With New Scholarships, Valley Resident Shows Appreciation for Nurses, the Arts
Longtime San Fernando Valley resident Julie Payne turned to CSUN to advance causes she holds dear. She created scholarships for dance and nursing students and funded nursing equipment in CSUN’s College of Health and Human Development.
Payne, a former actress, was inspired to establish dance scholarships after attending CSUN’s annual Kinesis dance show. She also created scholarships in CSUN’s Department of Nursing to show her appreciation for the nurses who had helped her recover from an injury.
For 2025-26, two students were awarded “Dance Forward” scholarships, and two others received “Thank You, Nurse” scholarships created by Payne.
She also funded two new IV simulation arms in CSUN’s Nursing Simulation Laboratory, where students learn on computerized mannequins before working with real patients.
Payne’s gift gives nursing and dance students skills they need as they pursue their education dreams.
