The main floor of the Extended University Commons was buzzing with activity on Friday, May 2 as seniors in the College of Engineering and Computer Science displayed their “capstone” projects they have worked on for the past year. At the 16th annual Senior Design Project Showcase, students revealed their creations addressing a variety of issues — they included a water bottle filtration and cleaning system, an app designed to enhance engagement among members of the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, an unmanned drone designed to make deliveries and an intelligent ground vehicle (IGV) designed to navigate itself safely through obstacles and carry a payload. The students come from a variety of disciplines, including civil engineering and construction management, computer science and electrical engineering, to name a few.

The event is also a competition, where student projects are reviewed by a panel of industry professionals. There was a Grand Prize Winner, and each college department had one oral presentation winner and one project display winner.

More information about the projects and winners for 2025 can be found on the College of Engineering and Computer Science’s webpage.
