Matador Student-Athletes of the Week - April 24
Each week during the 2022-23 season, GoMatadors.com selects two Matadors as Student-Athletes of the Week. This week, we highlight Water Polo's Dorottya Telek and Baseball's Joey Kramer for their individual performances in the pool and on the field.
Dorottya Telek, Water Polo
Sophomore center Dorottya Telek helped propel the Matadors to their first conference win of the season this past Saturday in the final tuneup before this week's Big West Champonship.
Telek scored three goals in a 12-5 victory over Cal State Fullerton at Matador Pool. Her hat trick gave her 100 goals on the season as she becomes the first Matador in team history to accomplish the feat. Telek also had two steals, one assist and one field block in the Matadors' wire-to-wire victory against the Titans. Her 100 goals this season lead The Big West by a wide margin while she also paces the conference in points (111) and ranks second in steals (44).
Joey Kramer, Baseball
Junior infielder Joey Kramer was a key member of the Matadors' hitting attack that scored 24 runs in a series victory over Cal Poly this past weekend at Matador Field.
Kramer had four hits in the series, all of which went for extra base hits. He had an RBI double in the Matadors' seven run eighth inning that resulted in CSUN winning 12-10. Kramer would homer twice and drive in three runs in a 10-6 win in game two while he had another RBI double in the finale. He also started at first and third base in the series and had no errors. On the year, Kramer is second on the team in home runs with six to go with 17 RBI and a .256 batting average.
